Stephen has over 20 years experience in the commercial property market, the majority of which has been dealing in the investment and development sector. His career to date has been split between London and Scotland giving him extensive knowledge of the UK property market.

Having worked with multi-national property consultancy business’ and a smaller niche retail practice in London, Stephen returned to Scotland and established Inglis Howie in 2004 with a determination to establish a business to provide a far superior quality of advice and service than he had witnessed in the large practices.

He has undertaken a broad range of investment and development activities on behalf of clients, including, the establishment of a Jersey Property Unit Trust which he still advises, complex development funding, establishing and selling Specialist Property Vehicles (SPV’s), complex development funding, advice on establishing joint venture vehicles as well as more vanilla sales and acquisitions of property portfolios and individual investments.

Stephen acts for a number of institutional, private property company and wealthy private investors and also works very closely with the banks aiding them with restructuring and formulation of business plans of distressed loans and situations where covenants have been breached. As part of this role, he sits on the boards of several bank funded private property companies. In addition, he also acts for a foreign based major investor in a FTSE listed commercial property company providing advice in respect of the company and with the mandate to advise on maximising returns on the shareholding.

He became a member of the RICS in 2001 and is also a member of the Investment Property Forum.
